Rosacea crept up on me like an unwelcome guest.
At first, it was just a little flushing after a hot drink or a workout, but suddenly, my face was constantly red, irritated, and impossible to calm down. One moment my skin felt normal, and the next, it was burning. No matter how much I splashed my face with cool water or layered on moisturiser, the redness refused to fade.
I’ve never had flawless skin, but in my younger years, a gentle cleanser and moisturiser were enough to keep my skin happy.
Then, as I entered my thirties, my skin started to turn against me.
The occasional redness that used to fade after a few hours began lingering for days. My cheeks burned for no reason, my nose had a constant pink hue, and tiny bumps started appearing where my skin was once smooth. By the time I turned forty, my complexion had completely changed. I felt like I had lost control over my skin.
I tried everything.
Doctors prescribed me Metrogel (Metronidazole 0.75%), but instead of helping, it made my skin even more irritated and dry.
Then came the antibiotics. Oxytetracycline, Lymecycline. These medications were supposed to help, but instead, I was left with an upset stomach and no real improvement.
I even tried tea tree oil, since some people swore by it, but it did nothing except leave my skin feeling dry and flaky.
I switched between expensive "Rosacea-safe" skincare brands, but nothing truly worked. One cream would feel soothing at first, only to trigger even worse flare-ups later.
Even my confidence took a hit.
I started avoiding video calls and social events. I dreaded stepping outside without makeup because I felt like people were staring at my red, irritated skin instead of seeing me.
Desperate for a solution, I began my quest.
